Drunk Driving

The total number of traffic fatalities decreased 5% from 1982 to 1997, while drunk driving fatalities decreased 39% during the same time period. An 11% decrease in drunk driving fatalities was noted after 1992, despite a 7% increase in the total number of traffic fatalities. During the same time period, there was a 15% increase in traffic fatalities involving drivers with a BAC of 0.00, and a 3% decrease in traffic fatalities involving drivers with a BAC between 0.01 and 0.09.
