Teenage Drunk Driving

Fatalities in crashes involving drunk teenage drivers (16-20) decreased 63% from 1982 to 1997. From 1982-1993, decreases in fatalities paralleled decreases in the number of 16-20 year old licensed drivers. After 1993, a 3% decrease in fatal crashes involving drunk teenage drivers was noted, despite an 8% increase in the number of 16-20 year olds who were licensed to drive.
